The Big Bang!!!
"So what do you think about it???"
The ticking bomb, I was trying to avoid, came whistling down and landed smack on my lap....tick tock tick tock .....
"Yes Priya, tell us is she right or am I??"
Tick tock Tick Tock.....
"Well i don't know....i wasn't there..." I mutter, burrowing my head deeper in to my bag where I was pretending to look for a chapstick for the last five minutes...20 seconds into looking I knew the chapsticks wasn't there but I was naively grasping at the hope that if I made no eye contact, my two best friends would leave me out of it.
"That so typical. Trusting Priya to take a stand is like trusting a weight watcher with a warm, gooey chocolate scone" when Lax( no her parents did n't name her after Los Angles airport its short for Laxmishree ) was on diet anything and everything was invariably tied to food...that's how we know she is dieting it's as easy as following the french fries smell to McDee's.
"You are so right, Lax...geez grow up, Priya get a spine and have an opinion" quipped my other best friend, Sandhya.

I looked up at them, they were the extreme of the spectrum....while Sandhya is organised, practical and a firm believer in god does everything for a reason, Lax is chaos incarnated...she is haphazard, chaotic and a firm believer of accidental randomness of existence. As for me, I fall somewhere in between the shades of grey between this black and white. I am part organised, part haphazard(depending on the time of the day and month..:)) and a firm believer that a man is a by-product of his society so there are as many separate worlds as there are minds.

Every Saturday morning, us 3 lost souls meet up in a small cafe in this city of lost angels....where we discuss work, dates, finding the perfect guy...Keeping the perfect guy....shopping... sales...music... tips on makeup...just about everything a la sex in the city....only unlike sex in the city...we don't always conveniently wrap our opinions in one episode...life of course can't be summarised every Sunday evening( or in reruns or and now in set 6 dvd...yeaaa...), can it??? So today, the big debate is about the creation of the world....and of course, my two friends immediately take their respective stances on their respective opposite corners.
Sandhya believes that god created earth in 7 days(or similar version of that story)and Lax, of course believes that creation was all an accident.
So now, I am being dragged into it....
Tick Tock...Tick Tock....
"well, I think you are both right and/or wrong" I voice my opinion calmly.
"HUH??!!" came the reaction from my mates. "OK guys, I am going to tell you a very confidential story.....flashback imagine this ....its mid 70s....another quiet lazy autumn evening is gently dancing towards the outstretched arms of the moon..."oh shit!!" The words ring solemnly in the quiet of the night " the condom broke....but I think we are okay....no REALLY", from that day onwards, the woman refused to believe anything the man said which ended in "no really"...NO REALLY guys she did!! The next 4 weeks were spent by them fervently praying to any and all gods...per heh heh...Bache to bhagwan ki den hote hai...( children are gift from god) so they were in trouble....now we can fast forward 9 months...it has been the worst monsoon of the decade, it has rained for 7 days nonstop and in the wet flooded hospital, as flam infested lungs are filled with air,a baby's wail is heard out so loud that the wardboy swears that the hospital rumbled...he even caught a doctor and a nurse under the table for the fear that there may have been an earthquake...(after all what else could a doc and a nurse be doing under the table....NO REALLY). And here's the clincher that is how my sister was born.....poor thing she was not planned child...she was an accident.

Puzzled looks greeted me...."oh god," I groaned. I am going to have to break it down for these silly goats....."ok," I start, "so the point that my sister's conception....it was not planned but it was not totally random either....it was an accident waiting to happen."
"yeass but.." interrupted Sandhya.
"Sandy (I know she hates being called that), what I am saying is this...although there is ample randomness in existence...there is always a rhythm to it. When something happens..there is a flow to it. Like before you eat somewhere your stomach triggers its need for food which is satiated by you eating...so nothing happens on its own...just like that maybe if only for entertainment, God was playing...say..marbles, clunking planets with planets for fun and our milky way was created. Imagine he probably even doesn't know we are here!!..wow, imagine the child support owed!!" I smirk.
Tick Tock...Tick Tock....
"Well that's good but......"
"No, Lax don't think for one minute that I am agreeing with you....Please note that when I say God....I am not speaking of generic versions of him that quote-unquote dwell in temples, mosques and churches....by God, I am referring to the ultimate energy source....how can He be defined in human terms....in human time, emotions???
"I was just....."
I wasn't about to let her interfere....I was on a roll...."After all, time and emotions are so relative to us humans ourselves.....same donut looks different on an empty an a full stomach!!!"
I had stunned them....no spine..huh???!! couldn't take a stand, huh???!!!....They watched me still confused...."I can answer your questions now" I state, smugly.

They exchange some looks....finally Lax delicately pursued her lip and quietly asks " uuhhhh by the way, Priya....aren't you and your sister twins???
It took a moment for the question to sink in.....
